With award season’s most favorite ceremony on Sunday, I’m sharing my 2017 Golden Globes predictions!

2017 Golden Globes Predictions

Oh Happy Friday! Big news everyone: The Golden Globes are on Sunday and my excitement level is literally through the roof. As I sit anxiously awaiting the pop of champagne and a flock of A-list stars gallivanting down the red carpet, I thought I would do something new around here and share with you my guesses for who will snag a trophy this year. After all, measuring the success of your predictions only makes Hollywood’s most beloved award show that much more fun for those of us watching the show at home in our flannel PJs. (It’s cold out, for real!)

This time around, the categories are STACKED. With very close races, particularly in the television categories, it’s going to be bit of a nail-biting night for many. This year, I’ve seen most (if not all) of the nominated films and television series. Sure, that doesn’t mean I’m necessarily qualified to decide the winners – but I HAVE watched the Golden Globes every year since the 7th grade and feel pretty well-educated on who the Hollywood Foreign Press Association likes to hand gold trophies to. Of course, these are guesses…not guarantees — but they’re my most educated guesses and I feel pretty confident in them.

Live-Tweet the Golden Globes with Me

Before I get into my 2017 Golden Globes predictions, I want to toot my horn a little bit and let you know that I’ll be live-tweeting the red carpet fashion and show on Sunday. So, if you’re around, definitely join in! It’s always lots and lots of fun, I promise. You can follow me on Twitter, here (assuming you don’t already).

MY 2017 GOLDEN GLOBES PREDICTIONS

On that note, let’s get started. As I said, the closest races seem to be in television with Westworld and Stranger Things both being strong contenders in the TV drama category. The Golden Globes tend to favor more dark, abstract television series…and so while I do love The Crown, I just don’t think it’s going to take home much gold. That said, John Lithgow is a beloved treasure so I’m nabbing him as my pick to with the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. The Globes also have a history of awarding shows in their first season, which is why I dub Billy Bob Thorton as Best Actor for GoliathWinona Ryder for Stranger Things and the talented Thandie Newton (who is seriously SO good) for Westworld

In the TV Miniseries or Motion Picture category, 2016 delivered two very strong contenders. HBO’s smash hit The Night Of was one of the most compelling crime dramas of all time – but I just don’t think it’s strong enough to beat our the machine that is The People v. OJ SimpsonIt’s kind of a shame in a way, because I think it would be a shoe-in winner any other year. If you haven’t seen it yet, definitely check it out! The People v. OJ was an all-around slam dunk though and is definitely worthy of all the praise (and trophies).

The motion picture drama category seems to be a close race between Moonlight and Manchester of the Sea. I think we can all agree La La Land has it in the BAG for Musical/Comedy. (Rightfully so. Have you seen it?! It’s stunning through and through!)

To break down my winning picks, I’ve listed all of the categories and put my Golden Globes predictions in bold. Let’s get going!
