Valentino Shows White and Demure Couture in NYC
Turns out, Valentino too thinks New York City is the reigning fashion capital of the world. Last week the fashion house packed up stunning haute couture and traveled oversees to the Big Apple for their first couture showing in Manhattan, ever. It was a big night for a fashion, and a big night for Valentino – who showed a heavenly white and demure collection in remembrance of the classic 1968 White Collection. 46 white looks walked the white runway, each more breathtakingly demure than the last. From petticoats to cashmere capes, it was all very posh, ladylike and supremely Valentino!
The Best Pre-Fall 2015 Looks, So Far
Alas, the Pre-Fall 2015 Collection season is in full swing, and this season: there is no limit to chic. Pre-Fall collections are always fun, with provocative and demure lookbooks as the pre-cursor to February’s fall runways around the world. And if these collections are any indication, we’re in for an amazing Fall 2015 ahead. Killer collections are raining in from all the greats. From Fendi, Jason Wu to that supremely memorable Chanel show in Austria a few weeks back, Pre-Fall 2015 is a circus of style, with so much chic-ness it’s impossible to showcase every single good look out there – because, well, we’d be here a while!
As the Pre-Fall Collections are still rolling in, I thought we’d take a minute to observe the best of the best, so far. For more Pre-Fall coverage, head over to my Pinterest board that features even more fashionable beauty to lust after. But for now, satisfy your appetite with the best looks of Pre-Fall 2015 so far…
Red Carpet : Governors Awards
It’s official: awards season has kicked off! Last week’s Governors Awards featured all the leading ladies in their red carpet best, kicking things off with a bang – and a lot of color! Of course, I can’t help but feel crushed heading into awards season without the timeless Joan Rivers voicing her opinions. It just won’t be the same without her Fashion Police specials. Hats off to Joan, may she be praising and cursing red carpet fashion from above!
In the last week, I myself have been gearing up for awards season by hitting the local cinema. Gone Girl and Interstellar were intensely gripping, and packed with incredible performances (HELLO! Rosamund Pike and Matthew McConaughey!). Maps to the Stars originally beckoned to me because of that standard crush on Robert Pattinson, but Julianne Moore really stole the show. I’m trying to build up the nerve to see Fury soon – I think I’ll need snacks. Needless to say: it’s movie time people!
Event : Amy Kirchen Fashion Show
When Amy Kirchen hosts a fashion show, I go running – literally. I’ll sign up for her classic and seductive designs anytime, even if that means scrambling from a long day of work to get there. To me, a trip to Amy Kirchen’s Boutique is like stepping into another world – with one sharp, chic lady holding the reigns. Kirchen’s aesthetic is filled with decadence and romance. Guests pass through white column pillars into her crystal showroom, lined with the finest garments and jewelry. It is a room so elegant you quite forget you’re tucked away in American suburbia. And so, an Alice in Wonderland theme that urged attendees to Enter through the Looking Glass couldn’t be more appropriate. Amy’s world is a beautiful place, and one I always appreciate a glimpse at.
An Amy Kirchen event is also always a good excuse to connect with another Amy in my life, Amy Wray of Mod City Magazine. It’s like, Amy Squared! Birds of a feather flock together, and these fashion-minded gals are lots of fun to hang out with. Sometimes us gals need time to gush about fashion over champagne (and cupcakes).
Fall : Boots Under $100
Fall is traditionally the season for boots; and for 2014: boots come with an i-e-s at the end, as in BOOTIES! Frankly, I think a good pair of boots is an investment, so splurging a bit on a good pair isn’t necessarily a bad idea. They’re likely to stay in style season after season, and only get better with wear. But, there are some really great options out there that ring in at under $100. While shopping around for myself, I thought oh hey! Perhaps my dreamers love a bargain pair of boots as I do! (Which obviously you do.) So here are the booties I was lusting for, all less than $100!
