No one does a garden party like Christian Dior. Creative Director Raf Simmons has started a trend with beautiful and elaborate sets for the RTW and Couture collections that turn Paris into an enchanted garden. But Friday’s show took place in the largest creation yet, with a ceiling adorned with draping orchids, lianas, and wisteria that was a masterpiece that can really take your breath away.
Nina Ricci is amazing when it comes to crafting beautiful collections that are delicate and youthful, and the Spring/Summer 2014 Collection is no exception to the rule. I always look forward to the new collection from them because it makes me feel girly, in the best way. It makes me want to pick flowers and take bubble baths and all those things. They celebrate being female!
The new line is very soft and beautiful, and very white. But not boring in the least. There are actually several looks in a wide variety. Something for everyone really. There’s sparkling, there’s lacy, and then there’s loose and slinky.
The collection does also play around a bit with color. A gorgeous lavender blue is featured in a few looks, others work with florals. Everything is premium girly-girl though and very fresh and sweet for spring.
Two stand out looks from the runway are in a bright blue. They’re lovely, but almost look like they don’t belong as they are so different from the other looks of the runway. These are less sweet, youthful, and girly…and more seductive.
The entire collection is very beautiful though and I think these youthful looks will be perfect for the coming Spring and Summer. It’s clean, it’s fun, and it’s just what every young girl needs for their spring wardrobe Cheers to Nina Ricci! 🙂
Floppy hats, embroidered tights, and lace. What more could a girl need?
Ann Demeulemeester says nothing in this beast of a collection. Yes, I call it a beast as it’s dominating and overpowers all within its presence by the obvious pure awesomeness. It’s like, a super hero collection. Ann Demeulemeester’s Batman or Spiderman so to speak.
Not that I think super heroes have anything to do with designer collections but it’s just one way of saying this collection is larger than life. Which is my way of say…I L-O-V-E it! I lust over these tights. I’m always a fan of tights with designs but these somehow beat any other tight I’ve ever laid my eyes on. I have to say, I don’t think this collection is ideal for Spring or Summer, but then…who cares The tights are so great I would happily wear them on a 98 degree day with high humidity. I’ll be boiling hot but very happy!
Cool shades of blue and brown, and brilliant shades of red march down the runway in cool (yet romantic) and Victorian, sometimes bohemian, looks. It’s a diverse and eclectic collection with a very broad scope. Yet somehow, it all fits under the same veil together beautifully. This is definitely one of my favorite collections of the month! Each look I would die to have. In fact, I know I love it because when I was flipping through looks to blog about I ended up saving 26 of the 30. That’s probably the highest saved to not saved look ratio of the entire month (what am I talking about).
Ignore my babbling though and just feast your eyes on the delicious collection you’re going to be wearing tights all summer long over!
