You thought Blake Lively had a good run at the Cannes Film Festival while expecting? Well, upping the game BIG TIME is the incroyable Araya Hargate maternity fashion at Cannes 2017!
Oh hi, yes – I’m still talking about Cannes. What can I say? The 2017 Cannes Film Festival is definitely one for the record books with SO many insanely polished red carpet looks from every major red carpet darling you can think of. Truly, I don’t think I’ve squealed so much on Twitter about red carpet in YEARS! It’s next level glamour, guys! Take the Met Gala, magnify it by a 100 and that’s where we’re at.
If you don’t follow me on Twitter, you seriously should – because it’s a landmine of couture, mega stars and…my squealing. The festival runs through Sunday, May 28th and I’ll no doubt be dedicated much of the coming days to sharing the best and the brightest looks from the red carpets, parties and photo calls. Tomorrow is The Beguiled premiere, with Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning all as leading ladies…you definitely won’t want to miss that!
As for one of the unsung red carpet heroes of the 2017 Cannes Film Festival? Let’s talk about Araya Hargate for a minute and her next level approach to maternity fashion.
Araya Hargate v. Blake Lively: Maternity Fashion at Cannes
Cannes heavyweight Araya Hargate is truly always one to watch on the red carpet, but this season she is pregnant and taking the opportunity to define maternity fashion as a time to SHINE – not hide.
You might recall blonde bombshell Blake Lively walking the 2016 Cannes festival red carpet while expecting. It was a pretty remarkable sight. She wore this golden Versace, this Cinderella gown by Vivienne Westwood, this curve-hugging Versace and much more. From Cannes to the sidewalks of New York, Blake truly made her mark and took maternity fashion to new heights.
WELL, clearly Araya Hargate was taking notes and then some because this week she has come out of the gates bringing her A-GAME…times ten.
Araya Hargate Maternity Fashion at Cannes 2017 Round-Up
To celebrate Araya and her glamorous approach to maternity fashion, I thought we could enjoy a round-up of her Cannes 2017 looks. The festival runs through Sunday…and my fingers are crossed that she’ll make another appearance. For now, feast your eyes on the COUTURE drama that is Araya’s Cannes 2017 maternity style.
Araya Hargate in Ralph and Russo Couture at Cannes 2017
No doubt, if I could make all of my fashion wishes and dreams come true – attending the Cannes Film Festival in Ralph and Russo couture would definitely make the list. For the festival’s opening ceremony, Araya kicked things off BIG with this crisp white gown and feathered cape. Proudly, she shows off her baby bump with a sleek up-do and glowing makeup look.
Araya Hargate Maternity Fashion Cannes 2017 I Olivier Theyskens
In Victorian black lace, Araya Hargate definitely upped the drama in this defining Olivier Theyskens gown. Unlike with her Ralph and Russo look, she discreetly conceals her baby bump beneath elegant ruching and drapery at the waistline. Absolutely LOVE that she fully embraced drama with the matching black, velvet gloves. If you’re going to go in, go ALL IN – right?
Araya Hargate Maternity Fashion Cannes 2017 I Ashi Studio
For one of Chopard’s many many Cannes 2017 events, Araya Hargate stepped into this high-neck, lace gown by Ashi Studio. Honestly, I think if I were pregnant the last thing I’d want to do is be showing off so much skin – but true to form, Araya pulls it off with 100% grace and style.
Araya Hargate Maternity Fashion Cannes 2017 I Zuhair Murad Couture
When this gown paraded down the Zuhair Murad spring couture runway, I knew it was destine for a dramatic Cannes moment. On anyone, this would be a highly memorable dress that’s sure to top everyone’s Best Dressed lists. Araya Hargate modeling this as maternity fashion really ups the ante on an already EPIC gown. Truly a major fashion moment that will be remembered in time.
Araya Hargate Maternity Fashion Cannes 2017 I Giambattista Valli
An empire waist is a classic silhouette for maternity fashion, which makes me think Giambattista Valli had that on his mind when designing this beautiful creation. I absolutely love the vibrancy of the coral ribbon – that adds both structure and pizzazz to such a beautiful gown. And, of course, as a face of L’Oreal…Araya’s blessed with a radiant makeup look that perfectly ties the whole look together.
Araya Hargate Maternity Fashion Cannes 2017 I Alexis Mabille Couture
Honestly, in determining my favorite of her looks – it’s a close toss up between this and the fucshia Zuhair Murad. I love the way Araya accentuates her baby bump in this figure-hugging gown, but adds dramatic shape with the royal red cape. It also doesn’t hurt matters that she caps off this look with a smashing emerald. One things for sure, the Cannes Film Festival red carpet is no time to be shy about the jewels.
And that’s it, for now. Fingers cross she makes more appearances and thank you SO much for reading!
On Sunday, the final day, – I’ll be back to celebrate ALL of my favorite looks from the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. There are literally dozens of favorites hanging out in folders on my phone and laptop. For your sartorial pleasure, I’ll be sifting through all of those to select the creme de la creme of the annual festival which is celebrating its 70th year in style! (Truly.)
If you’re feeling a bit of Cannes overload, though, fear not because I’ll be back on Thursday talking about a completely different topic. (I promise. I’ll contain my Cannes excitement for one day. Promise!)
