The Good & the BAD! What All the Stars Wore on the 2017 Met Gala Red Carpet

There were dramatic ballgowns, slinky silhouettes – and even a thong dress. Here’s what all of the stars wore on the 2017 Met Gala red carpet. The good, the bad….and the inexcusable.

2017 Met Gala Red Carpet I DreaminLace.com

Dreamers, I feel like I took a bit of a cop out this year by uploading all of the 2017 Met Gala red carpet looks to a Facebook album – but it’s been a day. Nay, it’s been a week. Or, two weeks rather.

Of course, no matter how long my To Do list was on this beautiful first Monday in May – there was absolutely NO WAY I would miss discussing the Met Gala. All in all, I have to say this year’s red carpet was a bit disappointing for me. It seems like the intrigue and drama of the Met Gala has gotten a little bit lost in favor of flashy, attention-seeking looks. I guess once the Kardashians got involved it was destined to end up here…*sigh*

Speaking of Kardashian-Jenners, you MUST look through to see what Kendall Jenner is wearing to the 2017 Met Gala. I mean, it’s one thing from the front but when you catch the rear view in a photo with Dakota Johnson…I think your jaw might drop. I had quite a lot of fun live-tweeting the Met Gala carpet and a whole slew of us got into discussing Kendall’s thong “dress” and you’re just gonna have to see to believe it.

The 2017 Met Gala Red Carpet Round-Up

And so, for your clicking pleasure, I present a round up of all the red carpet looks from the 2017 Met Gala red carpet. Both the good and…the bad. The STUNNING…and the atrocious. It’s all there.

You could say the carpet was hit or miss this year. The stars either or nailed it, or missed it by a mile. Let’s dig in!

Okay. Who’s Best Dressed?

Since I usually pull together a Best and Worst Dressed list, I simply couldn’t mention the 2017 Met Gala red carpet without dishing on some of my favs of the evening.

Among them?

Lily Collins in Giambattista Valli is HIGH on my list! I absolutely adore the princess vibes of the gown, coupled with the drama of that crisp bob with sharp bangs. (Note, I usually oppose bangs but in this look…I approve.)

Another favorite of mine came as a bit of a surprise. While I appreciate and admire Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld’s creations don’t often land on my “Best Dressed” list. Until now, that is, because Lily Rose Depp looked absolutely SMASHING in this fuschia ball gown with delicate floral accents.

And to round out my top 3 favorites of the 2017 Met Gala red carpet, here’s Miss Zoe Kravitz in a stunning gown by the new Monse for Oscar de la Renta. I adore the simplistic, demure blush coloring of the dress – with the more dramatic black accents. It fits Zoe’s “lady with an edge” vibe quite nicely and makes me absolutely *crave* a haute couture collection from ODLR’s new headlining duo.

As for my pick for Worst Dressed?

I think it goes without saying that Kendall Jenner in La Perla absolutely reigns supreme. Sorry to anyone who likes it, but I think this “dress” crosses a line too far and I simply won’t write it off as a “high fashion” moment. It’s tacky. It’s classless. It’s probably exactly what I would wear if I was trying to distract from major backlash over an overtly tone-deaf Pepsi ad and Fyre Festival scam…but I don’t approve.

Honestly, I’d have much more respect for Kendall Jenner had she showed up looking classic and elegant. *sigh* But, that’s not the approach she took. Oh Kardashian-Jenners, when will you learn?

Alrighty, that’s a wrap on the 2017 Met Gala red carpet! I would absolutely LOVE to know what you thought of the night’s fashion. Who did a great job? Who missed the mark by a mile? Weigh in on the comments!

Also, as we’re on the subject of red carpet fashion, I wanted to give a shoutout to the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
