Let me walk you through my current skincare routine – filled with beauty bits that will leave your skin feeling refreshingly just like silk.
Happy Monday to all my fellow dreamers out there! Hope you all had a great weekend. The weather here was insanely beautiful and so I spent quite a bit of time enjoying the sunshine and mild temperatures with long walks. I also got a jump-start on some spring cleaning – which I know might be a tad early but it’s been 60 degrees on the regular. Winter is completely missing in action this year!
Stumbling Upon a Regular Skincare Routine
While tidying up and sorting things over the weekend, I was inspired to share with you some of my favorite beauty bits that are making my skincare routine run like a well-oiled machine at the moment. I suppose, like everyone, I tend to bounce around from skincare products – but lately I’ve been really leaning on some regular favorites.
Every morning, I great the day with the Clnique Pep-Start eye cream. What’s particularly great about this cream for the morning is how soothing it is upon tired eyes. The cooling effect and applicator ease and puffiness, smoothing things out nicely.
For so long, I’ve seen beauty bloggers in the UK rave on about this product and finally it hit the US market. Don’t know about you, but I’m a bit married to liquid eyeliner and mascara. Both are fabulous at defining your eyes, but are prone to being a bit tricky when rinsing off at the end of a long day. To avoid any heavy and destructive scrubbing, my evening skincare routine begins with a cotton pad to remove eye makeup before cleansing and these days, I’ve been leaning on the Garnier Micellar water to do the trick. Not quite sure how this product works, but it is EXTREMELY effective at cutting through liquid eyeliner, dark eyeshadow and mascara in the blink of an eye. It’s also a nice refreshing step before cleansing.
I’ve been a longtime fan of the Purity cleanser by Philosophy, so much so I think I’ve gone through infinite bottles. This year, I’ve discovered a new favorite cleanser from them, though. The MicroDelivery Exfoliating Wash is threaded with grainy beads that swiftly exfoliate your skin, leaving your face feeling ultra smooth. The wash is also a godsend at cutting through heavy layers or foundation, bronzer, etc. Consistency wise, it’s a gel cleanser that has a citrus scent to it. At first, I thought it would be too harsh to use with my Clarisonic – but for a deep cleanse and exfoliation, the two actually work quite nicely together. No need to go that far every day though. I pair this with my Clarisonic once or twice a week.
As I said, in the morning I kick-start my skincare routine with the Clinique Pep-Start eye cream – in the evening, I reach for Philosophy’s retinoid Miracle Worker eye repair. Don’t know about you, but I basically live in FEAR of developing crows’ feet and a retinoid cream for my eyes is an absolute must. After trying several, I always come back to this one because you actually feel it going to work. When applied, it has a slight burning sensation that is so satisfying. Crows feet, be damned!
While the winter temperatures have been pretty mild this year, it has been very dry outside. As such, I’ve gravitated away from my standard weekly clay mask session in favor of something that doesn’t strip away moisture that much. My skin mask BFF of the moment? The Purity mask by Philosophy. What also makes this mask so great is it’s very effective in a time crunch. Unlike other masks that ask you to apply for 15 or 30 minutes – if not overnight – the Purity mask does its thing in just 60 seconds. At night, I’ll cleanse and dry my face – then massage this into my skin and leave to sit for a minute. In that short time, the mask goes to work deep cleaning my skin – leaving my complexion with a nice boost of radiance.
On Valentine’s Day, my mom and I enjoyed popping in and out of local gift shops and I came across this divine hand cream! Of course no skincare routine is complete without thinking about hand and body lotion – and this Orange Blossom lotion from The Naked Bee leaves my skin feeling virtually like silk. Upon some digging, I discovered you can find it on Amazon – which is very convenient if you’re a Prime member like. I absolutely love citrus scents in lotion and this is so soothing and comforting to my hands and cuticles, that definitely take a beating in the winter months.
Last but certainly not least is my beloved Clinique Moisture Surge face cream. I’m absolutely obsessed with this stuff. It’s so soothing and comforting on the skin and it’s gel-like consistency keeps it from getting oily or greasy when topped off with foundation. If you’ve yet to try this stuff, definitely check out my full review on it here. I promise, you’ll fall in love with just as heavily as I have!
Obviously, I’m a bit of a Philosophy fan – but I just can’t help it! It seems like no matter how much I bounce around to try other products, I always find my way back to Philosophy. They’re like that childhood friend that will always be there, no matter what. Clinique has definitely had a resurgence, though. After retiring Clinique in college, it seems I haven’t tried much from them in ages – but this year I’ve had a lot of fun rediscovering the skincare gems they have to offer.
What products line your current skincare routine? Let me know! I’m always on the hunt for new things and appreciate any of your recommendations.
