Let’s enjoy the best dressed ladies who dazzled the 2017 Golden Globes red carpet!
After what feels like an ETERNITY of lackluster red carpets, we’re FINALLY at the height of awards season. That’s right, the 2017 Golden Globes took place in Hollywood on Sunday and the red carpet was stacked with A-list stars. Present were Blake Lively, Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, Sienna Miller, Lily Collins and Nicole Kidman…to name a few.
My excitement for the Golden Globes was at a RECORD high this year. In fact, I even ventured into the unknown on Friday when I shared with everyone my winner predictions. (You can read that post here if you like. I did pretty well. *shrugs*) Of course, by the time 6 pm on Sunday rolled around I was popping open a bottle of Champagne – ready to judge all of the Hollywood heavyweights on the red carpet. And WHAT a red carpet it was!
If you want to see what everyone wore to the 2017 Golden Globes red carpet, I invite you to click here and take in the whole carpet. It was quite a crowd and it took a good deal of thought down to whittle down the attendees to my 10 favorites.
Best Dressed of the 2017 Golden Globes Red Carpet
Brie Larson in Rodarte
What do you wear when you won last year and are due a return appearance? Va va voom red and Rodarte, I say.
Caitriona Balfe in Delpozo
Forgive me, because I had to Google who Caitriona Balfe was. Now I KNOW she’s in Outlander, which I’ve been meaning to watch for ages but just can’t seem to pony up to pay for Starz. All that aside, I adore Delpozo and I adore Caitriona for making such an elegant choice for the red carpet. I like to think IF I was nominated, I’d wear something like this too. Delpozo, if you’re feeling generous…I will happily accept this dress, in every color.
Claire Foy in Erdem
Claire Foy is simply stunning. Somehow on The Crown that escaped my attention because I’m always more focused on trying to figure out what’s going on inside that Queen Elizabeth II head of hers. But on the Golden Globes carpet (and stage, because she WON), she was charming and romantic. I think the BBC needs to get another Jane Austen mini-series going pronto, with Claire as the main act. Gorgeous!
Emma Stone in Valentino
This Valentino dress perfectly brings to life everything La La Land represents and that’s fine by me.
Evan Rachel Wood in Altuzarra
Evan Rachel Wood is impossibly cool – and so I had a feeling she would show up in a perfectly tailored tuxedo. Girl did not disappoint (and neither did Altuzarra). Also of note, Evan never disappoints with her choice of roles and if you haven’t yet watched Westworld I urge you to do so, pronto. (She also has great taste in music, btw. Follow her on social media and you shall see!)
Janelle Monae in Armani Prive
Janelle (of Moonlight) developed this custom design with the Armani team, which is a variation of their recent red/black couture collection. What stands out as completely custom for Janelle is the mullet-style silhouette, which breaks Armani’s code and is a questionable look in general. My guess, the Armani team thought Janelle was completely BONKERS until they saw her in this and went all in! This would work on virtually no one else. On Janelle? It’s like a double rainbow! (A monochrome one, that is.)
Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad
Lily was a nominee for best actress in a motion picture comedy, up against Emma Stone in La La Land. With competition that steep, I think all a girl can do is shoot for a princess moment and Lily did it right!
Ruth Negga in Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton is all hit and miss on the red carpet these days, but this slinky silver gown on Ruth is striking!
Tracee Ellis Ross in Zuhair Murad
Tracee Ellie Ross won a well-deserved Golden Globe last night for her work in Black-Ish and I’m so GLAD she had a stunning dress to match her winning moment. From head-to-toe, this look is pretty flawless – but pay extra close to her fingers because Miss Tracee is rockin’ some KILLER rings. I mean, woah.
Viola Davis in Michael Kors
Viola Davis had QUITE the night at the Golden Globes. She won, for starters. She gave a slam dunk introduction to Meryl Streep (of all people) for the lifetime achievement award. AND, she wore this stunning canary yellow confection by Michael Kors. The 2017 Golden Globes was HER night, indeed!
As always, where there’s a BEST Dressed list – there is a Worst Dressed List. That’s right, it turns ugly…and fast. Definitely check out my Worst Dressed picks here, including a couple of MAJOR surprises.
On the subject of awards season, I will also be live-tweeting the Screen Actors Guild/SAG Awards on January 29th. So definitely mark that on your calendar and join in on the fun!
As always, stay stylish and keep chasing your dreams!
