Enjoy a brief mental escape to review the 2017 SAG Awards red carpet.
With everything in the news, I skipped live-tweeting and viewing the SAGs this year. But, as it’s 2 am and I have no prayer of sleeping anytime soon – it seems like the PERFECT time to distract myself with a 2017 SAG Awards red carpet round-up.
Frankly, between the Muslim ban and news of a mosque shooting in Quebec, I feel I could use a sartorial distraction. Like I said, I didn’t watch the awards – but I read that it was kind of a heavy night with winners really opening their hearts on stage. We’re living in a troubling time and I think many of us turn to movies and television as an escape. Saturday, I went to see a matinee showing of Hidden Figures and the theater was so packed. In fact, that showing SOLD OUT! We’re all spinning a bit out of control and taking the time to appreciate the powerful story-tellers and actors who bring those stories to life seems like a valid effort. We need art to get us through.
Onto the Fashion
The SAG Awards red carpet featured loads of COLOR this time around – and a nice variety of stars. With a major shake up in the television categories, we have the pleasure of welcoming new faces to this year’s carpet. Among my favorites? Thandie Newton – who is a pure DELIGHT in HBO’s Westworld. I know everyone raves about Evan Rachel Wood (who yes, is also amazing) but Thandie is so compelling and I can’t wait to see where season 2 takes things. On the SAGs red carpet, she wore one of my favorite couture gowns of recent history:
I just love this so frickin’ much. Schiaparelli is never one to shy away from the theatrics and given the theme of Westworld, I think this ties everything together nicely.
As for the rest of the SAG Awards red carpet, I’ve rounded everyone up into a photo gallery. Rather than dividing the ladies into Best and Worst Dressed lists, I thought we could all enjoy what they’re wearing at once. The red carpet featured fashion heavyweights like Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman and Emma Stone. Top-notch designers were also on hand, with Dior, Gucci and the like really BRINGING it.
Now, sit back and forget the troubles of the world for a moment. You deserve it.
2017 SAG Awards Red Carpet Round-Up
My favorites on the SAG Awards red carpet this year definitely include Thandie Newton, Nicole Kidman and Sophie Bush. Let me know who you fancied this year below? And, if you’re feeling extra judge-y…feel free to share who you DID NOT like too. We can all huddle together and talk about the red carpet to feel a bit better.
Thank you SO much for reading and I wish you a safe week!
Note: If you share my deep concerns about the Muslim ban, I urge you to contact your Congressmen – daily if you can- to voice your opinion and call upon them to do the right thing. If you don’t know who your representatives are, you can find them and learn how to get in touch with them at: http://www.whoismyrepresentative.com
As always, stay stylish and keep chasing your dreams!
