Wow Nelly! How did it become August already? Summer has flown by (per usual) this year. Weather wise, this summer has been a bit of a let down. It’s been much colder than usual, with temperatures often in the sixties or low seventies, and really gray downer weekends. Which sucks! Working on weekdays means my pool time is cast off to the weekends, and it’s just been so cold and gloomy, who would want to go to the pool?
Oh well. This isn’t to say that I haven’t enjoyed myself this summer, because I certainly have. So, when Kayla of Microscope Beauty, tagged me to do the Summer Lovin’ Tag I was excited to join in. You can check out her post here, as well you should follow and get to know her because she’s one of my favorite beauty bloggers!
While it’s still summer – let’s enjoy every last minute of it. The world in general seems to think of summer coming to an end in August – but technically, we have until September 23rd till we officially move on to fall. Let’s make the last month of summer the best it can be. Take things out with a BANG!
Easy! The YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in number 6 ‘Pink in Devotion‘. (Here) I’ve been carrying this around with me all-day everyday in my purse and it’s been in heavy rotation on my lips. It’s the simplest pop of pink that you can throw on on the go. And of course, as a YSL lippe it’s super creamy/moisturizing and wrapped up in some mighty gorgeous packaging. Why not have a posh lipstick?
2. Summer Nail Polish I Love?
There are two polishes I’ve been rotating nonstop, but I think the OPI Live. Love. Carnaval polish prevails as my supreme favorite! (Here) OPI forever remains my favorite nail polish formula and this bright coral was the perfect summer polish for your fingers or toes. It kind of reminds me of Cajun Shrimp, which is a standard favorite, but has a bit more kick to it.
3. Bikini of the Summer?
While the weather has gotten in the way of my time in the sunshine, June did have a lot of pool days. I love this green and white one, that’s actually from Target!
4. Summer Starbucks Drink
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed my love affair with iced skinny lattes, this summer. And really, I was loving ALL the coffee. Ice mochas, salted caramel, galore. But my go-to standard was definitely an Iced Skinny Vanilla Latte – often with an extra shot because I needed the extra boost. As much as I love them, I am looking forward to Pumpkin Spice Lattes and, of course, all the Peppermint Mochas in red cups ahead!
5. Favorite Fake Tan?
This summer I discovered that Lancome has a super easy bronzer, that’s perfect for the complete novice. Self-tanning is something I’m definitely NOT a pro in, so I really appreciated how foolproof their product was. I didn’t have to worry about being an orange, greasy streaky mess! Their Flash Bronzer was a true lifesaver. (Here)
6. Favorite Summer Song?
I confess, it’s hard to narrow this down to ONE song. Also, I really didn’t listen to the radio or anything this summer so I’m not quite familiar with the hit songs of summer, but I was really into Ellie Goulding, Kodaline, Florence + the Machine, and of course One Direction!
7. Favorite Summer Accessory?
I was in serious lust with this necklace from New York and Company (which is currently on sale). It worked great to dress up a basic tee or off-set an interesting print. NY and Company really has upped their game in the jewelry department this year. Kudos!
8. Favorite Summer Fragrance?
OOPS! Totally forgot to include this in the pictures – but I was really into my Philosophy Living Grace body oil mist this summer. (Here) It’s a light beautiful scent that’s not overpowering- but adds a nice girly kick. I mist this on after a shower. Plus, as it is an oil it is also nourishing to the skin.
9. Summer Book I Loved!
If you’ve been following my blog and twitter this summer, you know I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading as part of my #MissionRead project. We Were Liars wasn’t on my original summer reading list, but I’m glad I made an exception and threw this in because I seriously LOVED it! E. Lockhart writes in such a mystical and poetic way that you sort of lose yourself in this fictitious world. I don’t want to say much about this book, because it does have a mystery to it and I don’t want you to be spoiled. But READ IT!
10. What Am I Looking Forward to this Summer?
Summer thus far has been extremely busy for me. So I’m really looking forward to enjoying the last month and taking more time to myself. I’ve been loving that the weather isn’t sweltering hot for long walks in the park and reading. I’ve been having fun spending more time out with my friends and loved that I actually made it to a festival or two this year.
BONUS: Overall favorite beauty product this summer?
Just because it’s SO great but didn’t fit any of the other questions, the L’Oreal Magic Nude Foundation has been a true staple in my everyday look. It’s a very light coverage, but also has longwear matte-ifying qualities. If you’re yet to try this, do yourself a favor and get it. I guarantee you will LOVE it for the remaining days of summer! (And who knows, maybe even beyond!)
So, I guess with a Tag I should take some other people, right? I’m tagging:
And anyone else that wants to do this! If you do complete the tag, send me your links so I can see all your summer favorites.
