It occurred to me recently that I haven’t picked up any goodies from the drugstore in quite some time! And so, with coupons and drugstore ads in hand…I took off to get quite a few things for a really great price. Is it just me, or do you feel a bit like you’re ‘on the hunt’ when looking for drugstore makeup? Trying to find that drugstore product that’s great and at the best deal possible? It’s a fun little game that I definitely need to play more often.
I also scored lots of lotion and that sort of thing, but today: we’re talking makeup!
Colorstay Foundation in Buff: I’ve heard countless things about this foundation, but was always weary to try because I feel like I’m taking such a gamble when I purchase drugstore foundations. Yes, they’re more affordable than ‘high end’ foundations…but when I’m standing there trying to guess what my colors is and if I’ll even like it, there’s too many unanswered questions and I end up not purchasing it. In a department store, you get to touch and see the foundation, get color matched and try a sample before purchasing. You don’t have those benefits in the drugstore. Anyway, I decided to ‘live dangerously’ and pick this up. I’ve used it the last couple days, so there’s a full review definitely on the way 🙂
Lip Butter in Lollipop: This is my first lip butter. Shocking. I know. But as I said, I really haven’t spent much time in the drugstore in the past couple years. I have tried the L’Oreal Colour Riche balms and the Maybelline Color Whispers…but not one of these. I have to say, it was kind of difficult finding a color I liked.
L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Eyeliner: This waterproof version is new and has what appeared to be a great applicator so I thought I’d give it a try. E.L.F. definitely makes my favorite eyeliner, for only a $1…but I was just intrigued by this as it says it’s waterproof and I just want to put that to the test!
Magic Lumi in Light: The YSL Touch Eclat is fantastic, and while L’Oreal and YSL are made from the same company…I was hopeful that this would be a great dupe. It was pretty pricey for the drugstore, at $12.95 but as they were on sale and I had a coupon, I got this for a good deal. I’ve used it once so far, and have to say it’s not quite as good as I expected – but is still decent. Definitely need to work with this more and give you guys a full review 🙂
Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Canteloupe Cream: I tried this out and have to say for all the great thing I’ve heard about these, I was disappointed. The applicator isn’t that great and there really isn’t that much color to it.
Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Apple a Day: I haven’t yet tried this, but I’m really hopeful I like this. If nothing else, I figure I can wear it atop any of my matte red lipsticks.
Milani Baked Blush: I’ve heard really great things about these baked blushes from Milani and I now know why. This is super pigmented. So much so, that you have to be extremely careful. At first applying this, I had to soften it with my foundation blush because it was much more pigmented than I expected. And that: is always a good thing! Definitely check these out 🙂
As you can see, lip products are my weakness! Ooopsies! I’m definitely going to make a commitment to spend more time in the drugstore this year. Sometimes you forget how great drugstore makeup can be because you get swept away by the MAC’s and the YSL’s of the world. If you have any recommendations on other products to try, I’d love to hear them!
Also, I’d love to do an all drugstore makeup tutorial. Let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in 🙂
