For those unfamiliar with Birchbox, allow me to introduce you. Birchbox is a mail, subscription service that delivers deluxe beauty samples to your doorstep for $10 a month.
Birchbox and I have sort of been on the outs. Honestly, I’m not sure we ever made a great match in this year+ together. We were happy for a short while, then I started to feel a tad used by Birchbox and called things off. Then one night I felt weak and allowed Birchbox back in my life and we’ve been muddling along together since. I keep holding out hope that things will get better, that Birchbox will finally give me the great products I deserve. But, unfortunately I feel very neglected and think we may need to call an official quits. Especially when there are much kinder and loving subscription services out there like Ipsy. Ipsy for the same price gives me so much more. It wasn’t until I found Ipsy that I woke up and realized what a toxic relationship I was living in with Birchbox. I told Birchbox they had one last chance to prove themselves to me and…well, here is what I got!
So let’s dive right in to this summer themed box!
First product I was a little excited about because I love Color Club polishes.
Color Club, Reign in Spain
I actually discovered this brand through Birchbox, which if nothing else is something to walk away with because these polishes are pretty great. This is one of 4 polishes in the Wanderlust Collection and is a neon pink. I actually used this last week and you can catch a snip of it in this post.
Coola SPF 45 Sport Sunscreen
I’m very conscience of sun protection so a sunscreen is useful. I’m not too thrilled about this though because it’s a very small sample so I really couldn’t even get a single use from this. I put SPF on my face, neck and chest. This wouldn’t go that far. It’s also $32 for the full size which I think is a little whacked out since it doesn’t really do anything outside of being a sunscreen. So there’s nothing to motivate me to purchase this over standard Coppertone…or switch to this from my Clinique City Block which is 40 SPF and only $20.
Dr. Jart+ Premium BB Cream SPF 45+
Dr. Jart+ is another brand I’ve learned about through Birchbox, and I have to say I really do like their products. I tried this out under my makeup today and was likewise happy with this product. I really like that this is a great moisturizer, SPF and treatment serum in one. And this is something I will absolutely keep in mind for next summer because I think it’s a great product for summer with its high SPF. It would be great year-round as well, I’m just not in the market for moisturizer right at this moment but definitely think this is a good one to try down the line. I couldn’t find the full size on Birchbox’s website, but did locate it at Sephora and it’s only $39 which I think is very reasonable for the product.
uniqONE Hair Treatment
I’m not too sure why, but I’m sort of nervous to try this product. I have pretty oily hair so leave in products make me nervous. This is an all in one hair treatment. It claims to make hair smoother, shinier, and healthier. For Birchbox, this is a rather nice sized sample though. The full size is also only $17 with free shipping, so if I do like this and wish to purchase the full size, it’s very reasonably priced. And I’m always a fan of free shipping 🙂
Jasmine Seven Fresh Feet Wipes
If you were thinking things in this box were looking pretty good, this is the more typical product I receive. Foot wipes. Are you frickin’ kidding me? They can also be used for hands too! *gasp*
Ann Taylor Coupon
And last but not least is this coupon. I do love Ann Taylor, but as I get their emails I know that they have much better deals than this quite regularly. But for all of you who are kindly read this, please feel free to use the promo code Birchbox to get 20% off a single item, or 30% off two or more items. Let that be my gift for you!
Well guys, this will be my last Birchbox. I have put my (freshly wiped) foot down and am saying farewell. Unfortunately, I feel I have gotten everything I can out of this system. And hey, it hasn’t been a total loss. I did learn a lot about the brands they feature and knowledge is power. I know of the products I like and can continue to purchase them on my own or through their website. I just don’t see the need for this monthly box any longer.
I do really recommend Ipsy though everyone! So if you are game to try a subscription service I suggest that one.
Do you get Birchbox? Are you happy with it? What products were in your box this month? I’m always interested to learn what other people get!
Stay stylish and chase your dreams!
