Taylor Swift has been looking pretty great on the red carpet lately, I must admit.
But, things came to a CRASHING HALT at last night’s 2013 MTV Video Music Awards when she was trying a touch too hard. From the hair to her makeup to the dress. Each and every element was pushing the limit and created an overall look that was just far too much on the eyes.

Isn’t it time we officially burn and bury this bandage dress thing?
I think it’s been going for about 5 years now and it’s never been good, so I’m kind of confused why it’s still a thing.
That said, I do love the color navy, though. If this wasn’t a bandage dress and didn’t have the chest cutout I would dare say, I would love the dress. And it would go MUCH better with the heavy hair and makeup because it would be all around a little less revealing.
Isn’t it kind of funny too that you see where her spray tan stops and her deodorant begins? I know we all have to wear deodorant but she should have opted for one that wasn’t so apparent in such a barely there dress.
The make up is the biggest problem for me though:
It’s sad really. Taylor’s a pretty girl and definitely does not need that much make up. Being young means you can naturally afford to go fresh faced without layer upon layer of foundation.
In my book, understated is always better when it comes to makeup. And Taylor Swift’s 2013 VMA look is a fine example of that.
As a rule of thumb, when you’re choosing to wear a skimpy dress – opt for more subtle makeup. Wearing both a revealing dress and caked on makeup will only make you look like you belong on stage at the Moulin Rouge. (Which is my favorite movie still, btw.)
Moving forward, hopefully Taylor will learn from this and tone it down. She’s far too young and gorgeous to ever need to try this hard again.
Stay stylish and chase your dreams!
